8月13日 'Rush' Rules But Doesn't Own
Though hitting the number one spot over the weekend, Brett Ratner's "Rush Hour 3" didn't do as well as expected.
In 2001 audiences (for some reason) were clamoring to see Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker team up for round two of "Rush." The second picture enjoyed a $67.4 opening over the third picture's $50.2.
The downturn isn't that big of a deal ($50.2 million is you know, a lot but I'm not a studio executive so I guess it's relative) but perhaps the six year break in between movies isn't the best bet. They're not making "Apocalypse Now" for chrissakes.
Speaking of "Apocalypse Now," check out the spread Bratt Ratner shot for Vanity Fair. Yes, that's Kevin Federline and Cisco Adler in Ratner's bachelor pad basement disco. I think my soul just died a little...
And here's the top five movies over the weekend:
1. "Rush Hour 3"-- $50.2M
2. "The Bourne Ultimatum"-- $33.7M
3. "The Simpsons Movie"-- $11.1M
4. "Stardust"-- $9M
5. "Underdog"-- $6.5M
